Songwriter, Musician. He will be best remembered for his writing partnership with Allee Willis. Notably on the hit song "Neutron Dance" (1984), recorded by The Pointer Sisters. The song featured in the 1985 motion picture "Beverly Hills Cop" earned a Grammy Award for Best Album of Original Score. In addition, it became a Top-10 hit on the American Billboards Chart, as it reached a number 6 placing. The younger brother of famed songwriter and musician Michael Sembello ("Maniac" from the film "Flashdance"), Danny did not gravitate to music as quickly as his older brother. A meeting with Michael Jackson became a life changing event, as Jackson was impressed by Danny's keyboard playing and encouraged him to use his talents in the recording studio. In addition to "Neutron Dance", he collaborated with Willis on Patti LaBelle's hit "Stir It Up" (1984, also from the "Beverly Hills Cop" soundtrack). He would also write for Chaka Khan and contributed musically to her 1984 album "I Feel For You", in addition to Irene Cara and Jeffrey Osborne. He collaborated with his brother Michael to write the composition "Apasionada" (2008) for jazz musician Michael Lington. Dan drowned in the Schuylkill River while swimming.
