Services for Mr. George Dewey Griffin, age 69, of Milledgeville whose death occured July 14, at a local hospital after an extended illness, were held July 16, at 3 p.m. from Friendship Baptist Church. Rev. C.S. Ellington and Rev. Charles Patisaul officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Griffin was a native of Washington County, but had lived in Hancock and Baldwin County most of his life. He was a retired farmer and carpenter and a member of Friendship Baptist Church where he served as deacon for the last Forty years.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruth Brookins Griffin of Milledgeville, three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Snow and Mrs. Georgia Harris both of Milledgeville and Mrs. Virginia Coxwell of Ft. Hood, Texas, five sons, Wade Griffin, Andrew Griffin, Irvin Griffin, and Royce Griffin all of Milledgeville and Alonzo Griffin of Warner Robins, three sisters, Mrs. Kathleen Ledbetter of Decatur, Mrs. Virginia Smith of Sparta, and Mrs. Kate Martin of Macon, one brother, T.H. Griffin of Devereaux, fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
