Obituary.
Died, after a long and painful illness at the residence of her late husband. I.L. Bartlow, May 20th, 1908, Mrs. Martha Bartlow, daughter of Solomon and Asenith Raper, aged seventy-six years, eight months and nineteen days.
The deceased was born in Guilford County, North Carolina, August 31st, 1831, and moved with her parents to Schuyler County, Illinois in 1844. She was married to Ivan L. Bartlow, May 6th, 1849, and came with her husband and family in 1877 and settled on a farm near Tisdale where she resided at the time of her death. She was the mother of five children: Mrs. Phebe Wycoff, Mrs. Lyde Sellers, Mr. Virgil A. Bartlow, Mrs. Alice Gould, of Tisdale, and Mrs. Effie McKinnon, of Glencoe, Oklahoma. She leaves fifteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Her children were all with her at the time of her death, and all that loving hearts and gentle hands could do, was done for her, and while they grieve because she is gone from them, they know she is at rest and her suffering is over.
She was converted in early life, but never identified with the church. She died in perfect faith. Those who knew her best know of her unselfish disposition, always ready to do everything for the comfort of others, and those who knew her best loved her most.
The funeral services were held at the home at three o'clock, May 21st. Rev. Kraft conducting the services and speaking words of comfort to the bereaved family.
