Mae Mason Lewis was the daughter of Rev. J. C. Mason and Lady May Davis McChesney. She was born in Houston, Texas in 1890. She married Robert Monroe Lewis in 1925. The following is a marriage announcement found in the Forrest City Herald, January 29, 1925:

"Rev. J.C. Mason announces [the] marriage of daughter Mae to Mr. Robert Monroe Lewis, of Memphis, on Jan. 22 at the Union Ave. Methodist Church, in Memphis by Rev. Robert A. Clark.
The groom is the son of Mrs. Lula Beaver of Union City, Tenn., and a graduate of the Univ. of Tennessee, a veteran of three years in the World War in the Rainbow Division and is with the Industrial Bank of Memphis, they will make their home at 1512 Madison Ave. in Memphis."
"Maxie May Mason, a girl, who intermarried with Robert Monroe Lewis. She is now a widow, having been divorced from her husband. She is 54 years old and lives at 614 N. Washington, Forrest City, Arkansas"
