Robert Lee Roark passed away July 21, 2015. Graveside services were held August 8, 2015, at Rose Hill Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born March 23, 1925, near Pocasset, Oklahoma, to Strederick Wallace Roark and Dortha Payne Roark. Along with his older sister, Margaret Emma, Bob spent a great deal of his youth in McAlester, Oklahoma. He graduated from McAlester High School in 1943 and immediately joined the US Army Air Corps. He wanted to fly and was accepted into flight school; however, there was a surplus of pilots and Bob was destined to remain on the ground. He served as a logistics specialist for Army field hospitals and participated in the D-Day invasion.

After the war, Bob attended Oklahoma A & M University (later Oklahoma State University) in Stillwater, Ok, and majored in Commerce. He met and married Dorothy Maxine Akin and they started their family with the birth of Glenda Carol in 1949.

In 1950, Bob was called from the Army Reserves and served stateside until his discharge. He then began his retail career and after various moves and the birth of Debra Lee in 1952, the Roark family settled in Oklahoma City and welcomed a third daughter, Patricia Lynn, in 1954.

The majority of Bob's career was spent at the Oklahoma Publishing Company where he sold retail advertising. When, for all intents and purposes, his daughters were grown, Bob and Maxine bought and ran a grocery store in Wheeler, Texas. They returned to Oklahoma City in 1981 and Bob returned to OPUBCO as a valuable part of the advertising sales team until his retirement at age 65. He and Maxine then became gypsies traveling the continent in their motor home, eventually splitting their time between Wheeler and Surprise, Arizona.

After nearly 52 years of marriage, Maxine passed away. Bob was lost and alone until he met Glenda Angulo and life began again. They married in 2001 and split their time between Montana and Arizona before moving permanently to Payson, Arizona. Bob's final years were blessed with a sweet, fun and loving relationship that gave him great happiness.

Robert L. Roark was an extremely special man. He will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, and his first wife.

He precedes in death his second wife, three daughters, seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
