Mr. Jack Tatum, 56, died suddenly Wednesday (August 26, 2015) at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross.

He was born in Waycross and had lived most of his life in Ware County. He was also a member of Swamp Road Baptist Church and formerly employed with Clayton Homes of Waycross. Mr. Tatum was son of the late Cleve Tatum.

He was preceded in death by four siblings, John C. Tatum, Jr., Randy Tatum, Mary Tatum, and Marie Tatum.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Tatum of Blackshear; three sons, Mark Tompkins of Orlando, FL, Mitch Tompkins (Amy) of Blackshear, and Matthew Tompkins of Blackshear; eight grandchildren, Taylor Tompkins, Griffin Tompkins, Layton Tompkins, Garrett Tompkins, Rhyan Tompkins, Miller Tompkins, Mattox Tompkins, and Mara Tompkins; his mother, Mildred Carter Griffin; two sisters, Virginia Thomas (Charles) of Waycross and Hazel Wade (Joe) of Blackshear; a brother, Dewey Griffin (Karen) of Blackshear; a step-brother, Michael Griffin (Dale) of Brantley County; a step-sister, Judy McDonald (Calvin) of Brantley County; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday (August 29, 2015) at Swamp Road Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Swamp Road Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Friday evening at Music Funeral Home from 6 until 8 o'clock.
