Son of Rev John Lyons and Susannah Watson. Qualified as a Doctor at Aberdeen University (Bachelor in Medicine and Master in Surgery). Commissioned into the 1st Gloucester Engineer Corps. Worked in London and Bristol before joining the GP Surgery at Henly Lodge in Yatton. Married Carew Elwell, the daughter of Edward Elwell (Edge Tool manufacturer and owner of Wednesbury Forge). They had 4 children. Alfred was buried at Yatton with his wife and son Robert. There is a window in St Mary's Church dedicated to Dr and Mrs Lyons.
