Charles Jack Maynard

December 26, 1924 - February 22, 2015

 

CHARLES JACK MAYNARD, 90, of Bluffton, S.C., formerly of Williamson, W.Va., and Huntington, W.Va., passed away on February 22, 2015.

 

He was born on December 26, 1924, in Chattaroy, W.Va., the son of Nannie Harvey and Luther Maynard. He was raised by his mother and step-father, Samuel Coburn.

 

He graduated from Chattaroy High School. Jack served in the army infantry during WWII. He received commendations for bravery and valor and was also presented with the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.

 

In 1946, he married the love of his life Audry Jean "Rita" Reedy. She preceded him in death in 2000.

 

He retired from Appalachian Electric Power Company in Williamson, W.Va., where he worked more than 40 years.

 

He was preceded in death by his brothers Bill Martin, Scott Martin, Kimble Martin, James Coburn and sister Marie Bowen.

 

He is survived by one son, Charles Jack Maynard Jr. (Geta) of Terre Haute, Ind., and two daughters, Delores Gattuso (Jim) of Zionsville, Ind., and Patti Bugher (Mark) of Hilton Head, S.C. He is also survived by grandchildren Christy Hoppenthaler, Dawn Bowen, Cecilia Shimell, Anne Marie Briscoe, Debbie Maynard, Beth Maynard and Chris Bugher. He was also so blessed to have six great- grandchildren, Jake and Isabella Bowen, Henry and Teddy Briscoe, Danny Limbaugh and Ian Bugher.

 

Private graveside services will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery in Huntington, W.Va.

 

Services are coordinated by Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home of Chesapeake, Ohio, and The Island Funeral Home and Crematory of Hilton Head, S.C.
