Dennis Michael Manning was born in Clinton, Iowa on January 15, 1951, the son of Donald L. and Veronica C. (Koerperick) Manning. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1969 and attended Mt. St. Clare College and the University of Northern Iowa. As a youth he was active in scouting, as a senior patrol leader, Jr. Assistant Scout Master and Order of the Arrow member. He also enjoyed auto drag racing, both as a race crew member and as a spectator.

Dennis and the pride of his life, his son Patrick, enjoyed working on and driving their classic 1973 Mach I Mustang. Patrick is a member of the Tumwater, Washington police force. He is also active in motor sports, vehicle customizing and restoration at his home in Tumwater, Washington. Dennis enjoyed traveling and had visited many states, Ireland and Canada. Dennis was a friend of Bill W. and recently celebrated 10 years of Continuous membership.

Dennis worked as a railroad conductor and switch crew foreman for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, later the Union Pacific, from July 1973 until his retirement on January 31, 2011.
He was preceded in death by his mother Veronica, grandparents and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
