MRS. RALSTON IS SUMMONED
Widow Of Hardware Dealer Dies At Hospital
Mrs. J. B. Ralston, 78, 701 North Winnebago street, widow of a prominent hardware dealer sixty years a resident of Rockford, died at 2:15 p. m. yesterday at a local hospital, where she had been a patient since Jan. 21.
Mrs. Ralston had submitted to a major operation last month, Pneumonia, which developed Wednesday, was the immediate cause of death.
Mrs. Ralston, the former Ellen Brown, was born at Argyle Aug. 28, 1855, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Brown. She spent her early years there and soon after her marriage to John B. Ralston March 11, 1875, moved to Rockford. With the exception of a few years spent on a farm, in Harlem township, practically all her married life had been spent here.
Mr. Ralston, who died in 1923, and their only son, Edward H. Ralston, who died in 1920, for many years conducted the hardware firm of J. B. Ralston and Son.
Surviving are one granddaughter, Ruth Roxayn Ralston, and the daughter-in-law, Mrs. E.H. Ralston, both of 626 North Court street, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Kelly. Lincoln, Neb., and Miss Susie Brown, Rockford.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p. m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian church, of whom she was an active member, with the Rev. William H. Fulton, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
