Danny Delbert Ashland, age 85, of Wapello, Iowa and more recently residing in Tampa, Florida, died Saturday evening, August 22, 2015 at St. Josephs Hospital North in Lutz, Florida. He was born on July 13, 1930 in Clear Lake, Iowa and was raised in Winfield by Richard and Verdi Davis Buffington. Danny married Lola Florence Elliott on August 27, 1953 at Spirit Lake, Iowa.

He graduated from Winfield High School and went to a Technical School in Chicago before serving in the US Air Force for 4 years during the Korean Conflict being stationed in Korea. He was a self-employed electrician in the Wapello area.

Danny was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wapello and the Wapello VFW Glenn Allen Post 5166. He sponsored and coached the Ashland Electric Little League and enjoyed pheasant duck hunting, fishing, and their cabin at Lake Odessa.

His family includes his wife, Lola of Wapello and recently residing in Tampa; three children, Larry Ashland and partner Maria of Cozumel, Mexico, Connie Murray of Tampa; and Gary Ashland and partner Phil Windsor of Orlando, Florida; 2 grandchildren, Robbie & Carie Murray of Wapello and Dana Campbell of Bellefontaine, Ohio; and six great grandchildren, Aaron, Shelbi, Bryar, Payton, Chevelle, and Jordyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and many siblings.

The funeral ceremony for Danny Ashland will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello with Rev. Pam Kranzler officiating. Burial will follow at the Wapello Cemetery with military rites by the Wapello VFW Glenn Allen Post 5166.

Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello where the family will meet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of Izaak Walton League and the Wapello Little League.
