Mr. Randy Lynn Bridges, 55 of Fort Smith passed away Monday, August 24, 2015 in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born March 25, 1960 to James Hughes Bridges and Violet Morgan Bridges. Randy was a member of the Church of Christ and worshiped most recently with the West Ark congregation. He previously taught and preached at the Washburn congregation until his battle with cancer took away his energy.

Mr. Bridges worked with the Fort Smith School System for thirty-three years until his medical retirement in June of 2015. He began his career as an English teacher at Darby Junior High. He completed his degrees (Bachelors, Masters, Specialist and Doctorate) at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. He then became vice-principal at Chaffin Jr. High Schoo and later at Northside High School, before becoming Director of Student Services for the district.

Mr. Bridges is survived by the love of his life: Phyllis Kay (Cook) Bridges; Liz Crowley, a great-niece, who spent the past four years with them; 1 sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Judy and Ray Shackelford of Elkins, Arkansas; 2 nieces: Eve Stockton and Tanya Stowers of Greenwood, Arkansas; 3 sisters and brothers-in-law: Bennie and Paul Phillips, Anna and Brownie McBride and Kay and Glenn Headley; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law: James and Jan Bridges and Larry and Donna Bridges- all of Greenwood;Arkansas; other relatives, former students and many dear friends.

Funeral service for Mr. Bridges was held on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the West Ark Church of Christ in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
He was laid to rest at Washburn-Bell Cemetery in the Washburn Community.
Pallbearers were Barry Owen, Darian Layes, John French, Tommy Scharbor, Dr. Benny Gooden and Rick Carson.
