HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (8/24/15) — Mary Adkins McLeod, 95, of Madisonville, Kentucky died Sunday, August 23, 2015, at Baptist Health Hospital in Madisonville.
She was born on December 24, 1919 in Hopkins County to the late Thomas M. Adkins and Louvina “Mom mom” Fenwick Adkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, James McLeod; two sisters, Gusta Lee and Caldonia Jean; and one son, Everitt Wayne Buchanan.
She is survived by two daughters, Levia“Betty” (Larry) Rich of Tucson, AZ and Donna Faye (Lee) Alexander of Globe, AZ; four sons, John Alton (Shirley) Buchanan of Owensboro, KY, Larry Joe Buchanan of Hanson, KY, Kenneth Millard (Rasie) of Madisonville, and Donald Ray Buchanan of Hanson; 14 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren.
Mrs. McLeod was a cook at the Days Inn. She enjoyed gardening, being outside, and taking care of her animals. She enjoyed cooking and going to senior citizen dances.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Dan Hutchens. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Hanson, KY.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Brian Buchanan, Josh Buchanan, Albert Buchanan, John Michael Buchanan, Jeremy Buchanan, Jason Oakley, and Jennifer Williams.
