Donald Eugene Hudson, 84, of Calhoun, went home to be with the Lord two days after his 84th birthday, on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the residence of his daughter.

He was a native of White County, and a resident of McMinn County since 1959.

A son of the late Clarence Everett and Margaret Ellen Martin Hudson, he was also preceded in death by two sons, Charles Everett (Little Charlie) Hudson, and Rodney Martin Hudson; two brothers, James Hudson and Dallas Hudson; and two sisters, Margaret Jo Smith and infant Elizabeth Ann Hudson.

He was a former employee of O.B. Andrews, now known as Container Corp. and Textile Printing. He was a member of Short Creek Baptist Church and was ordained as a deacon at Bethel Springs Baptist Church. He was an antique car collector. He loved his family and his favorite job was being a husband, father and grandfather. He was a beloved, respected, Christian man.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Norma Jean Hardin Hudson of Calhoun; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Alex Compton of Decatur, and Charlotte and Jeff Hyde of Athens; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Teena Hudson of Athens, and Ricky and Ann Hudson of Athens; brother and sister-in-law, Milo and Jane Hudson of Soddy-Daisy; nine grandchildren and spouses, Aaron and husband, Taviano Puente, Anna Compton, Matthew and wife, Paticia Compton, Adam Hudson and fiancee, Brittany Howard, Josh and wife, Heather Hyde, Kevin Hudson, Jake and wife, Savannah Hyde, Casey Hudson, and Jeremy and wife, Heather Hardin; ten great-grandchildren; many loved nieces and nephews; special nephew, Willis Hardin; and a special thank you to Sarah Bailey and Victoria Oswald for their love and care.

Graveside services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Alex Compton officiating.

Active pallbearers will be grandsons and nephew Willis Hardin.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Springs Baptist Church.
