THE LA HARPER - 23 Feb 1894The death of "Mother" Riggins occurred at the home of her son, James Riggins, Tuesday February 13, 1894 at the advanced age of 81 years, 10 months, 7 days. She was born in White County, Tenn. Her maiden name was Lucinda Smiddy. She was married to Isaac Mills and came to his vicinity in 1838. Two sons, William and Andy, were of this union, both living in this county. Her second marriage was to Wright Riggins and three children are living of this union, James of La Harpe, Mrs. Emma Allen of Missouri, and Mrs. Eliza Perkins of Iowa. She was the mother of ten children, four boys and six girls. She espoused the cause of Christ at an early age and united with the Baptist Church and later with the Christian Chrurch a Durham. She was a most worthy woman and greatly beloved by her children. The burial occured at the Riggins graveyard West of the city, Thrusday, services being conducted by Elder Blakersley of Burnside.
