Wilma Louise Barnes was born on August 25, 1929 in Lockport, New York to Harold and Helen Barnes. In 1952, she married Rev. K. William Bowler. She moved to different cities in New York with him as he pastored three different churches. Between 1953 and 1960 all four of her children, Susan, Douglas, Gordon, and Daniel were born. In 1975, Rev. and Mrs. Bowler and their family moved down to Baltimore, Maryland, where Rev. Bowler took a job pastoring a church on Walker Avenue. January 1986, the family left Walker Avenue Alliance Church, and Rev. Bowler was subsequently offered a position as an assistant pastor at Calvary Tabernacle in Baltimore. On July 29, 2001, her husband, Rev. Bowler, passed away after a long battle with lymphoma. She lived with her daughter Susan until her own death in the early morning on April 19, 2006. She died only hours apart from her close friend Margaret Norwood, her daugher-in-law's mother. She was survived by all four of her children, Susan, Douglas, Gordon, and Daniel, daughter-in-law Catherine, and two grandchildren, Michael and Laura.
