Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Morrison Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Winfred Walker, staff minister, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery.
Mr. Purvis was born April 23, 1927, in Arley to Henry Lee and Virginia Mae Purvis. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy, and had been a resident of Dumas since 1946. He was employed as a welder. In 1948, he married Nathalee Barley in Dumas, and she preceded him in death in 1971.
Survivors include a son, Michael J. Purvis of Dumas; three daughters, Charlene Richardson of Marquez and Christie Carver-Fryer and Emily Purvis, both of Houston; a brother, Smiley Purvis of California; and five grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. Second St., Dumas, TX 79029.
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
