Nancy Elaine Oesterborg Richter, age 68, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at her home in Fulton, IL. She left this life to join her heavenly father on a beautiful summer day.
Nancy was born July 10, 1947, in Clinton, IA, to Delorus “Dolly” (Humphrey) and Lowell “Ozzy” Oesterborg. She attended Clinton schools and graduated from Clinton High School in 1965. She also was a graduate of Clinton Business College. On October 18, 1975 she married Eugene Richter, joining two families together into one very loving family. They raised their children in Clinton, IA and Fulton, IL. Together Nancy and Eugene owned and operated Richter’s Tax and Financial Services.
Nancy and her family were members of the Church of the Open Door in Clinton. They were also proud members of Unity Christian High School in Fulton, where all five of their children graduated from. Nancy and Eugene were also members of the Quad Cities Parrot Society, an organization that rescues birds.
Nancy will be especially remembered by her family as a fun person who had a big heart. She gave wonderful hugs and always knew how to support her family. She was the heart of the home. Nancy, Eugene and their children had many wonderful times together, enjoying church camp and camping at their favorite campgrounds, as well as going on family trips. Nancy and Eugene also supported the children in their school and sporting events. They were always sitting in the stands; Nancy could be heard over the crowd. She also enjoyed music, playing cards, Civil War reenacting, family genealogy and many other hobbies. She loved her pets - her birds and her beloved dog Tippy.
Survivors include her husband of forty years, Eugene; her children, Denise (Stacey) Bussie, Barb (Al) Edfors, Susan (Gary Jackson) Petersen, Lori (Shawn) Petersen and Nathan (Leah Potter) Richter, all of Clinton, IA; her beloved dog, Tippy and her birds; a sister, Patsy (Kevin) Riley of TX; two brothers, Larry (Pam) Oesterborg of Fulton and Lyle (Sheri) Oesterborg of Cedar Rapids, IA. Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren, Lyndsey, Matt, Brittany (Brad) Johnson, Bryne, Leesha (Tyler) Cahoy, Preston, Natalie, Nicholas (Alexandra Wilson), Perry, Kayla, Ben, Christian, Brooke, Nella, Anna and August; six great-grandchildren; her mother-in-law, Alma Richter; many brothers and sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents; Lowell and Delorus Oesterborg; aunts and uncles; her father-in-law, Nicholas Richter; a sister-in-law, Kristene Richter.
The family of Nancy would like to give special thanks to the staff at Medical Associates, Mercy Hospital in Clinton, CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL, and Genesis Hospice for their help and support in their time of need. They would also like to thank many friends that have walked this path with them and prayed for them and Nancy. She will be greatly missed; she is in Heaven now!
Funeral service was held on Thursday, August 27th , 2015 at the Church of the Open Door, Clinton, IA with Rev. James L. Machen Sr., Retired Pastor officating.
The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Interment in Clinton Lawn Cemetery, Clinton, IA
