Tom E. Edwards Sr., 62, of Ashland passed away early Saturday morning, Aug. 22, 2015, at his residence.
Tom was born Jan. 2, 1953, in Ashland to Richard D. and Blanche Louise (née Harry) Edwards.
He was a graduate of Mapleton High School class of 1971 and had lived most of his life in Ashland County.
Tom worked for Columbia Gas Co. as a meter reader, inspector and field supervisor. He worked for 39 years with the company, retiring in June 2014.
He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and sang in the church choir.
He was a devoted member of the Hayesville Lions Club, for which he was a two-time Lion of the Year and recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He was actively involved with the Hayesville Lions' productions of the annual Hayesville Follies. He was a member of Sons of the American Legion and NRA.
Tom loved aviation and made real and model radio-controlled airplanes a hobby of his. He also loved cars, hunting, traveling around the country and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
On Sept. 20, 1986, Tom was married to Kimberly "Kim" Ann Clark at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashland. They enjoyed 27 anniversaries before Kim passed away Feb. 25, 2014.
Tom is survived by five children, Thomas (Kristen) Edwards Jr. of Oklahoma, Jason (Laura) Edwards of Colorado, Luke (Lana) Edwards of Mansfield, Kyle (fiancée Jaqueline Sanders) Edwards of Ashland and Casey Edwards of Ashland; grandchildren, Ashley Edwards, Riley Edwards, Emerson Edwards, Avery Edwards, Thomas Edwards III and Robert Edwards; one sister, Darla Edwards of Arizona; and two brothers, Dennis Edwards of Arizona and John (Barb) Edwards of Tennessee.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 2015, at St. Edward Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Rodney Kreidler officiating. Burial will be in Vermillion Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, at Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home.
