Funeral services for Hazel E. Winter, 76, of Buffalo Center were held Tuesday, October 8, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Buffalo Center with Rev. Lee Boleyn officiating. Winter Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements and interment was in Graceland cemetery.

Hazel E. Winter was born on July 29, 1898, to Addis and Amanda Boutelle on the family farm three miles west of Kensett, Worth County, Iowa. She attended country school, Kensett High School, and Hamilton's College of Commerce after which she was employed in secretarial work in Mason City and Des Moines, Iowa, until her marriage to Sam Winter of Buffalo Center in 1953.

Hazel accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized in the Catpitol Hill Church of Christ, Des Moines, Iowa, in October 1928. She was an active member of the First Christian Church of Mason City, Iowa until she joined the First Baptist Church of Buffalo Center in 1964.

Hazel was united in marriage to Sam Winter on June 1, 1953, in the First Christian Church of Mason City, Iowa, and moved to his farm west of Buffalo Center.

Left to mourn her loss are her husband, one daughter, Mrs. L. V. (JoAnne) Coomes, and four grandchildren of Foley, Minnesota. Also surviving are three stepchildren, Harry Winter, Owatonna, Minnesota, John Winter, Ellendale, Minnesota, Mrs. C. W. Craychee, Chicago, Illinois, and three brothers, Gust Boutelle, Plymouth, Iowa, Vern Boutelle, Kensett, Iowa, Wayne Boutelle, Mason City, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. Fred Aderhold, Monett, Missouri. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, two older sisters and one brother.

Hazel passed away on October 5, 1974, at the age of 76 years, following a lengthy illness. We rejoice that she is with her Lord and will always remember the love which she shared with those who were her family and friends.
