Mrs. Hendrix passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2015 in Tyler surrounded by her family.
She was born July 8, 1937 to Gerald and Hazel Fleming Kite in Sparkman, Arkansas.
Shirley moved from Prescott, AR to Jacksonville in 1952 and was a long-time member of Craft Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joel D. Hendrix; son, Joel Douglas Hendrix, Jr., daughter, Kelly Thompson; sister, Betty Davis; brothers, Jackie Kite, Geary Kite, granddaughter, Ashley Harris and great-granddaughter, Riley Anderson.
Left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Sherri Davila and husband Jerry of Jacksonville; sons, Mark Hendrix and wife Angela of Hallsville, Tracy Hendrix and wife Pattie of Jacksonville, and Chris Hendrix and wife DaLin of Jacksonville; sister, Jean Kite Nolan of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Gerald, Jody, Krystal, Taylor, Heather, Colby, Mason, Christina, Jon; great-grandchildren, Garrett, Brittany, Lauren, Nathan, Cullen, Aydan, Devan, Ethan, Sam, Hannah, Hallie, Konner, Avery, Genesis, Alli, Laurie, Bryson and several nieces and nephews.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Gerald Anderson, Jody Anderson, Colby Hendrix, Mason Hendrix, Jon Thompson, Garrett Anderson and Cullen Anderson.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, and friends are cordially invited to visit with the family from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
