solomon was a school teacher.he taught in several schools the last one being frost in wva.. he was also in the mercantile business in arborvale,wva.. he later opened a saddle and harness repair shop. this business he conducted until his death. he served one term as justice of the peace.he was also an asistant postmaster in arborvale for a number of years. he was a good honest citizen and was well thought of by the people of the entire community in which he resided.
