Ruth Langsather went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 18, 2015 at the age of 88 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease and more recently with recurrent melanoma. She was born in Roundup, MT to William and Clara Van Dyke, the 6th of 10 children. Ruth was raised on a farm. She left high school to go to work in town. Ruth worked at a dry cleaning shop where she became an excellent seamstress and as a caretaker/housekeeper.

She married Nels Langsather in the late 1940's. He was a carpenter and Ruth became a skilled carpenter's helper; especially painting. They lived in Helena and Cut Bank, MT where she had five children. Ruth loved cooking, baking, and sewing clothes for her family. In the 1960's, they moved to Salem, OR. Ruth became a businesswoman, opening The Clothes Closet-a family consignment clothing shop. Ruth was divorced in 1970. She continued to run her consignment shop; for 28 years. Ruth's five grandchildren brought her great joy. In her retirement years, Ruth enjoyed traveling, volunteering at the church, mall walking, playing cards, and playing Scrabble.

Ruth is survived by her children David Langsather, James Langsather, and Donna Schmidt; 5 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her children Paul Langsather and Amy Langsather.

Ruth will be remembered as a woman of grace and faith who always had a kind word for others and a lovely smile. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Visiting will be held between 2 and 5 p.m. on Wed. February 25 at City View Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thurs. February 26 at First Church of the Nazarene on Market St. NE. Private interment will follow. Arrangements by City View Funeral Home & Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth's memory to The Salvation Army, Medical Teams International, or to the church.
