Aubrey de Vere, 20th Earl of Oxford was born in London, England and passed away on Downing Street, London. He was the son of Robert De Vere, 19th Earl of Oxford and Beatrice van Hemmema. He married 1st Anne Bayning on June 18, 1647 in St. Martin's-in-the-Fields, London. She was the daughter of Sir Paul Bayning, 2nd Viscount Bayning of Sudbury and Penelope Naunton

de Vere married 2nd Diana Kirke on April 12, 1673. The couple had one child, Lady Diana de Vere, who married King Charles II's illegitimate son, the Duke of St Albans.

de Vere fathered an illegitimate son named Aubrey, born April 17, 1664 with actress Elizabeth Davenport.

de Vere was to become the last de Vere earl of Oxford, the 20th in the line.
