Wife of Robert A. Rising
Rhoda Ann Park was born in Hampshire Co., Virginia, the daughter of Jefferson and Barbara (Davis) Park. Jefferson Park moved his family to Bates County, Missouri in 1858 (Rhoda’s obituary). Three of Jefferson’s brothers, Samuel, Washington, and Wesley, their mother Susannah and their sister Anne also moved to Bates County. In 1863, all residents were forced out of the county by the Union General Order 11. Jefferson, Washington, and Wesley returned to Bates County with their families in the fall of 1865, settling in Charlotte Township (Virginia, Missouri, Bi-Centennial Celebration booklet, 1976, unpublished).
Rhoda married Robert Augustus Rising on 16 April 1868 in Bates County, Missouri (Missouri, U.S. Marriage Records, 1805-2002). R. A. moved his family to Kansas in 1877 (R.A.’s obituary).
