Sarah "Beth" Carpenter, 96, of Cheyenne died Aug. 21 at Life Care Center of Cheyenne.

She was born July 11, 1919, in Hanna to John and Sarah Lee.

She married Harry C. Carpenter on April 20, 1952, in Hanna.

She graduated from the University of Wyoming and worked at the AAA office, then at the Bureau of Mines in Laramie

When her children were born, she became a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Matthew's Cathedral and St. Christopher's Episcopal Church.

Beth was active in Episcopal Church Women, Talbot Guild, Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, Job's Daughters Council Phi Gamma Nu and PEO.

She played in several bridge clubs, and she and Harry enjoyed traveling with friends and supporting their children's and grandchildren's activities.

She is survived by her daughters, Judith (Dick) Cuthbertson of Cheyenne and Sarah (Jack) Pope of Bloomfield, N.M.; brother, Joseph D. (Candy) Lee of Henderson, Nev.; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Jack Lee.
