CAPE GIRARDEAU — Walter J. Ackman, 78 years old, of 1118 Bloomfield Road, died Saturday, April 22, 1989, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Feb. 21, 1911 at Neelys Landing, son of George and Maggie Robison Ackman.
He married Nellie Jackson on Oct. 7, 1933 at Cairo, Ill. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Troy Ackman, Sedgewickville; three sisters, Collie Crites, Sedgewickville, Opal Tripp, Jackson, and Peggy Godwin, Sikeston; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
One son, Ned Ackman, died 15 years ago. Two brothers and a sister also preceded him in death.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 tonight at Ford and Sons Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. S.S. Borum and the Rev. David Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
