U.S. Congressman. He served in the United States House of Representatives from 1893 to 1895 and from 1897 to 1899. Prior to serving in the House he was a member of the Illinois State Senate from 1864 to 1868. Hunter was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1908.
