Olen was a retired Engineer and Road Foreman of Engineers of Southern Railroad and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cherokee. In later years he retired from Jim Bishop Automotive Group. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Ruth Bishop; sisters, Rebecca McWilliams and Jean Wakefield; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Bishop; and brothers-in-law, Jimmy Wakefield and Richard Johnston.
Olen was survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joyce Askew Bishop; son, John Askew Bishop; daughter, Amy Jo Bishop Ballard (Eddy); brother, Buddy Bishop; sister, N. Ruth Johnston; brother-in-law, Jack McWilliams; six grandchildren, William Olen Bishop Ballard, Bethany Bishop, Brianna Bishop, Anne Bishop Ballard, Alaina Grace Bishop, and Alexandria Adelé Ballard; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
