Dawn Marie Smith Ecker-Griffin, 60, of Westminster, died Saturday, August 22, 2015. Born November 5, 1954 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Nora (Paul) Smith and William Smith. She was the wife of the late George W. "Billy" Griffin, Jr. who died Dec. 11, 2014. She was employed with the Howard County School Board since 1995. She graduated from Glenelg High School in 1972. She was always dedicated to her family, putting them before herself, loved watching football to cheer her favorite team the Ravens, enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Orioles with her husband. She enjoyed putting puzzles together with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events even if it was 3 games at a time. She is survived by children Jenny Stine and husband William, Thomas Ecker and wife Alisha and Emily Ecker, 5 step-daughters, Rebecca Sutphin, Amanda Shreve, Samantha Griffin, Pamela Brown and Laura Newhall, grandchildren Gabriel Stine, Madison Stine, Connor Ecker, Nicholas Stine and Gunner Ecker, brothers-in-law Paul Hendrickson, Lawrence "Joe" Griffin and wife Christine, sisters-in-law Patricia Steil and husband Robert, Rosemary Dixon and husband Martin and Margaret Hawver and husband Richard, nephews Eric Hendrickson, Adam Hendrickson, Nathan Hendrickson and many other nieces and nephews, a cousin Joan Grace and many other cousins. Also survived by 7 step-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Samuel Thomas Ecker, Jr. and a sister Sharon E. (Smith) Hendrickson. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Park.
