Fred Lee Jones
(April 11, 1937 - July 24, 2007)

Fred Lee Jones, age 70 of Maryville, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Parkwest Hospital.

Fred was a deacon at Monta Vista Baptist Church in Maryville, which was one of his most cherished roles…working to help others. His faith was his strength. His smile and great sense of humor brightened every ones spirit. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and to so many a cherished friend and will be missed by so many lives that he touched.

He graduated from Lanier High School, attended Knoxville Business College, Georgia State, Walter State, ETSU, and UT Martin. He proudly served his country for 28 year, 4 years in the Navy and 24 years in the Active Reserve of the Navel Intelligence Department. He was retired from the US Government and was at present self-employed as a Social Security disability consultant. He was previously president of the Kiwanis Club in Paris, TN, previous president of Band Boosters Club, and Boy Scout leader. He was an accomplished water color artist and art teacher, avid gardener, and a hiker.

Preceded in death by father, David Carmel Jones, mother, Cora Lee Heaton Jones, brothers, Vernon Leo Jones, William Clayton Jones, J.C. Jones, sisters, Helen Louise Jones Tyler, Martha Jeanette Jones Cannon, Nella Mae Jones Jones, nephews and nieces, Teresa Lynn Cannon, Andrea Sherry Cannon Valentine, Steven Carl Jones, David Randall Jones, and General Boyd Tyler Jr..

Survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Audrey Jean Mayo Jones, daughter, Sharon Leigh Jones Carrillo (Alex) of GA, sisters, Edna Jones, and Erma Jones Giffin; nephews and nieces, Debbie Tyler Fields, Ann Tyler, Denise Jones, Bill Jones, Kent Jones, Vernon Jones, Pam Hill, Kay Rule, Karen Jones, Joel Jones, and Glen Jones, granddaughters, Kristin Shannon Elizondo of GA, Brittany Leigh Elizondo of GA, sister and brother in law, Coleen Mae and Howard Rollins of Columbus GA.; special friends, Jim Bloom, Kyle Turner, and Ken Butler.

Funeral service was held at 3:00 PM Friday, July 27, 2007 at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Bob Dalton, Rev. Jerry Mantooth, and Rev. Howard Olive officiated. Interment followed at Pine Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Monte Vista Baptist Church, 1735 Old Niles Ferry Road, Maryville, TN 37803. Family received friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Friday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville, TN.
