Services celebrating the life of Don were held Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Bethel Congregational Methodist Church in Pleasant Hill, LA. Officiating was Brother Brian Jennings and Brother David Hill. He was laid to rest in Ajax Cemetery, Ajax, LA.
He was preceded in death by father, Robert Annon Parker; mother, Mertie Bell Jennings Parker; brother, Cloy Parker; sister, Doyla White; and brother-in-law, Bruce White.
Left to rejoice in his homecoming are wife; daughter and son-in-law; son and daughter-in-law; grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a host of nieces and nephews.
Don proudly served his country in the U. S. Army with a tour in Vietnam. He worked as a carpenter until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and church family. Don had a special love for music. God had blessed him to be an extraordinary guitarist. Some of his favorite time was spent playing with his musician friends at various nursing homes. He was a member of Bethel Congregational Methodist Church in Pleasant Hill, LA, where he loved serving the Lord through his music. Rarely would you see him without a guitar in his hand and picks in his pocket.
Honorary pallbearers were all the musicians who have played with Don through the years.
The family would like to thank the medical staff at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center for their exceptional care and kindness to the family.
