Kathryn “Kat” Hicks, 83, of Rossville, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at her home. She graduated from Georgia State College and received her masters at UTC in psychology. She retired from TVA, where she was a systems programmer for 36 years. She was a volunteer at Walker State Prison, teaching speech craft and GED and implemented the Gavel Club. She was active with The Rossville Community Ministry and was a member of the John Ross House Association. As a member of the Toastmaster’s Club, she received their highest honor, the Distinguished
Toastmaster’s award. She was a member of the Rossville 1st Baptist Church for over 50 years and was the Sunday School Superintendent.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Hicks and her parents, James and Irene Keaton, III.

Survivors include her stepson, Ronnie (Faye) Hicks; sister, Betty Harbin; three grandchildren, Rhonda Hicks, Michael (Teah) Hicks and Brett (Olivia) Hicks, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 24th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Joel Land, Reverend David Tullock and Reverend Paul Williams. Burial will be on Tuesday, August 25th at 10:30 a.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the John Ross House Association 826 Chickamauga Avenue Rossville, GA 30741 or The Rossville Community Ministry PO Box 204 Rossville GA 30741.
