Melinda Rebecca Jewell Monteith Thornton, age 100, of Newton, NC, was a daughter to the late James Walter Monteith and Rebecca Mae Whitesides Monteith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Meredith Thornton; siblings, Willis Ritter, Hiram Monteith, Birch Monteith, and Jonnie Ritter.
She was a homemaker and a member of North Newton Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a Girl Scout Leader. She loved to crochet, quilt, and tat, but her greatest pleasure came from spending time with family.
Interment in Eastview Cemetery, Newton, NC.
