Bernard, 80, of 7100 Medford Road and formerly of 12506 Reed Road, Versailles, died at 11:45 p.m., at his home.

He was born to John Allen and Elizabeth Matilda Shappie Davidson. On Nov. 30, 1941, he married Thelma Carr and she survives.

Other survivors are a son, John (Naomi) of Worcester, Mass.; a daughter, Linda (James) Pohlman, Versailles; a sister, Ruth Thobe of Hawaii; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Deceased are a brother, Robert; three sisters, Thelma West, Mary Frantz and Pauline Orthman; and a grandson-in-law.

He worked on the railroad for 15 years and later at Worch Lumber, Versailles. He also drove a milk truck for Larger Brothers and retired from Clopay Corp. in Russia after 15 years. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church and a past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, both of Versailles.

Funeral Mass was 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. David Vincent officiating.
