COLORADO CITY -- April Compton Jones, age 40, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 6:30 a.m. in an Abilene hospital. A memorial service was held Wednesday, August 26th at 2 p.m. at the Dorn Chapel with Rev. James Williams officiating. A family burial was held Tuesday, August 25th in the Colorado City Cemetery.
April was born to Connie Jean (Moody) Compton and Dalton Wilson Compton in Colorado City on April 26, 1975. She was a great, loving wife and mother to her children. She was a wonderful person who never met a stranger. She had a heart of gold. Anyone needing help could always count on her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Connie Jean Moody; her maternal grandparents, Forrest Henry "Red" Moody and Norma Jean Moody; paternal grandparents, Robert Andrew "Andy" Compton and Vinnie Lee Compton; and brother, Andrew Dee Compton.
April was survived by her husband, Michael Shawn Jones of Colorado City; her three children, Randall Dewayne Compton, Shawn Michael Jones, Nathaniel Cole Jones, all of Colorado City; her father, Dalton Wilson Compton and wife, Sherrie of College Station; sister, Tina Compton and husband, Ronnie Sumruld of Colorado City; brother, Larry White and wife, Larami of Lake Jackson; step-brothers, Eric Winn of Moro, Illinois and Cris Winn and wife, Chelsea of Pearland; three nieces and nephews; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
