Milton Cook, Of Oakland, Oregon, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2015, at the age of 95. He was born August 15, 1919, in Porterville, California.
He is survived by his children Marti Free, Diana Rausch, Shirley Whitehurst and Brian Cook. He is also survived by many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Just seven months after graduation from high school in 1937, Milt became the youngest full-time radio announcer in the country. Other than brief interruptions for service in the Army Air Force during World War II and a stint at North American Aviation in the fifties, he followed a career in radio for most of his professional life. That career was highlighted by many industry awards and honors.
Milt, and his late wife Lois, moved to Oakland in the early nineties and were long-time members of the Yoncalla Church of Christ, where a memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015.
Per his wishes, Milt will be cremated and his ashes scattered at the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
