Funeral services for SUE NELL WILSON BALLARD WEAVER, 83,
of Center were held Thursday, Sept 18, 1997 at 4PM at Mangum Chapel with Dr. Wesley Welborn officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Weaver died Tuesday,Sept.16,1997. She was Historian of the William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and was awarded the 1997 Silver Award of Merit from the State. She was past president
of the James Frederick Gomer Chapert of the DRT in Hemphill before moving to Shelby County. She had a 30 year teaching career in history. She served two terms as President of Shelby County Historical Society and was a member of the Shelby County Historical Commission. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and the Toledo Bend Reservoir Cultural and Historical Society. She served on teh Amercian Revolution Bicentennial Commission of Shelby County. She servbed on the Shelby County Courthouse Restoration Committee and is listed in Personalities of the South and Two Thousand Women of Achievement.
She is survived by one grandson and wife, Zane and
Kris Carroll Ballard;daughter-in-law and husband, Sybil Ballard Williams; great-grandson, Alex Zane Ballard brother Quinton R. Wilson; three step-grandchildren, Paula Wells, Jeanna Penick and Jason Wells; and a number of nieces and nephews.
