My cousin is married to an Uncle of Casey's. He was such a funny, loving person. There is a card game, Bouree, that my family plays and once we played it when Casey was visiting my cousin's home. He was a teenager then. He loved it and was hooked, but the funny part was he couldn't remember the name and always said he was ready to "Boo-ya" and eat shrimp dip. He was a true blessing and I was very fortunate to have known him in his short life. ~Colette

My cousin said it best in his Celebration Service Book - "Casey made sure that we didn't take ourselves too seriously. He loved us without limits; he lived without hesitation. Casey made us happy. Casey the great light in our family...Shine On!"

Freebirds supervisor put employees, friends first

By LAURA HENSLEY
Eagle Staff Writer
15 July 2006

Meanwhile, Wolf's close-knit friends at Freebirds - who said they consider themselves like a second family to Wolf - are mourning the loss of a young man who they said touched many lives. They described him as a person with the ability to brighten anyone's day.

Casey Wolf was known around Freebirds World Burrito on Northgate as someone who loved to joke around, but also for being serious about the job he loved.

As shift supervisor, the 19-year-old was in charge of the day-to-day operations and customer service at the franchise's flagship store near the Texas A&M University campus. He was the one who made sure the avocados were peeled, the fajita steak was marinated to perfection and the napkins were placed properly in their holders.

"He always had a smile on his face, and he made everyone else smile," said Kenneth Almy, the College Station area supervisor for Freebirds. "His work ethic was tireless and he had a great attitude. He was a better person than a worker - and he was a great worker."

Wolf graduated from Jersey Village High School near Houston in 2004 and attended classes at Blinn College in Bryan last year. He began working at Freebirds in August 2004 and within two years easily rose through the ranks to become a shift supervisor.

"He's matured so much and grown quickly," said Derrick Hadnot, general manager of the Freebirds on Northgate. "If he wasn't the best at something he tried to be. He just had a way with people."

Wolf also was the captain of the Freebirds softball team, which he organized and named the Strong Bads. Hadnot said Wolf was instrumental in organizing the team, which consists of workers in all four Freebirds stores in College Station.

"We wouldn't have a softball team if it wasn't for him," Hadnot said. "He had a way of bringing people together that may not have hung out together. He just had a big personality."

About three weeks ago, Hadnot said, Wolf declared it "Casey Wolf Day" and decided to make T-shirts for his friends at work that read, "I know Casey Wolf." He wore a shirt that read, "I am Casey Wolf."

"It wasn't his birthday or anything," Hadnot said. "He just felt like celebrating something. It was really funny."
