Vernon R. Ackerson, 60, of 320 North Jefferson, died at Ottumwa Hospital Tuesday at 11:40 p.m., following a short illness.
He was an auto body repairman by trade and had been a resident of Ottumwa the past 10 years.
He was born in Bethel, Vt. on Jan. 16, 1920, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Ackerson.
He is survived by three brothers, Willerith Ackerson of East Thetford, Vt., Ralph Ackerson of Orlando, Fla., and Aaron Ackerson of Andover, N.J.; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Wilkins of Taftville, Vt., Mrs. Olive Wiley of Ocala, Fla., Mrs. Nellie Adams of Winter Park, Fla.; several nieces and nephews, including Melvin Adams of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Funeral services are pending at Johnson Funeral Chapel.
