English Girl Wed to Ottumwan's Son

Pictured is the former Miss Dorrene [sic] Bage, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Bage of 119 Woodland street, Sheffield, Eng., whose marriage to Pfc. Harold C. Ades, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Ades of 1028 West Second street, took place in Sheffield on May 22. Private Ades has been on duty with the ninth army air force the last two years, in England and France. The young couple plan to make their home in the U.S. when he is out of service and conditions permit her to come here.

Obituary From Ottumwa Daily Courier, Monday, September 29, 1952, Page 13:

Mrs. Doreen Ades, 28, wife of Clifford Ades, 514 Chester avenue, died at Sunnyslope sanatorium at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The daughter of Ernest and Doris Goodall Bage, she was born July 6, 1924, in Sheffield, England. She was married to Clifford Ades on May 22, 1946 [sic], and they moved to Ottumwa. She was a member of the Degree of Homer, Olive branch, No. 19.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Diann [sic] Doreen; her parents, and two brothers, Percy and Fred Bage, all of Sheffield, England.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Johnson funeral chapel, in charge of the Rev. A.D. Pringle of the Ottumwa Baptist Temple. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.
