"Quentin Pray2 (Robert1) the first known of the Pray name, arrived in New England aboard the 'An Cleeve' late fall 1643... He was married at Mayfield, Sussex, England, on 17 June 1621 to Joan Valiance/Valliance, most likely the daughter of Richard Valiance and Margaret Peckhem...

"Of their ten children, four likely accompanied Quentin and Joan Pray to New England: Dorothy, John, Hannah and Richard, if in fact Richard was Quentin's son...Four children died young, Quentin Jr., Hugh, William and Thomas. Another child, Elizabeth, had she lived would have been age 21 in 1643 and either she had already married or her age negated free passage...Sarah, age 12 in 1643, could have accompanied the family or stayed behind with Elizabeth and came later...
