It was the will of Almighty God to summon out of this world unto Himself in heaven, the soul of Donald D. Fraker, who died on Thursday, the 10th of October.

Don was born in Colorado on May 30, 1932, the third of five sons born to M.G. and Audreen Fraker. He was raised on a farm and after high school graduation he attended the University of Northern Colorado (then CSCE) on a basketball scholarship. He graduated from college with an Air Force commission and began pilot training in February of 1955.

Don had a 22 year career as an Air Force pilot, amassing over 7,000 hours of flying time and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross during his tour of duty in Vietnam. He retired as a Lt. Colonel in September of 1976.

After retiring from the Air Force, he began an 18 year career in the insurance business with Aid Association for Lutherans. He was a district representative for 8 years and then spent 10 years as a general agent for the northwest corner of WA and the state of AK.

Don married his high school sweetheart, Pat Richards, on July 3, 1952. Actually, they eloped to Raton, New Mexico, because he was under age. They recently observed their 61st anniversary.

Don’s survivors include his wife, three daughters and two sons-in-law, two sons and daughters-in-law, ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one brother [survivors names omitted].

After total retirement in 1995, Don and Pat moved back to Colorado. Then, in 2001 they built a home in New Braunfels and became Texans. Don was very active in his church and was a vocal Christian.

Funeral Services will be Friday, October 18th, at 2:00 P.M. at Cross Lutheran Church, 2171 Common St., New Braunfels, TX. Cremation will follow with inurnment in Loveland, CO at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cross Lutheran Church and School.
