Dolores Gayle (Johnson) Hunter was born on May 13, 1933 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Earl O. and Jesse Pansy (Williams) Johnson. She attended Ardmore Public Schools. On July 14, 1951, she was united in marriage to James “Jimmie” Hunter in Ringling, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2012. They moved to Frederick in 1953 where they lived and raised their children. She owned and operated Dolores’s Furniture for over twenty years.
She is survived by two daughters, Helen Mitchell McIninch & husband Tom of Blackwell, and Loretta Coats and husband Lawrence of Altus; one brother, Walt Johnson of Ryan; nine grandchildren, Megan Gillinger and husband A.J., Harla Enzenauer, Deborah Bradford and husband Gary, Larry Coats and wife Britney, John Mitchell and his wife Rachel, Jimmy Don Hunter, Tiffany Nolan and husband Anthony, Lance Coats and Mindy and Kebrina Hunter; twenty two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons: Allen Hunter and Jimmie Don Hunter; one brother: Jerry Johnson; one grandson: Lucas Coats; and one great-granddaughter: Kara Beth Mitchell.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday evening at the funeral home in Frederick.
