Nell Jo Evans was born on June 24, 1930 and passed away on August 20, 2015, after a brief illness. Miss Evans was a life-long member of 12th Street Baptist Church. A graduate of Gadsden High School, she began her career in her teens with a job at Crossfield's Ice Cream. She spent most of her career with GMAC. Upon her retirement she focused on community service as a member of the local chapter of Altrusa International and the Woman's Club of Gadsden. She especially enjoyed working with the dealers at the annual antique show, a fundraiser to support literacy programs sponsored by Altrusa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe G. and Sara (Tidwell) Evans. Funeral: 2:00 p.m. August 23, 2015, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
