The son of Edward Sylvester and Mary Jane Bird Betts, he was born in McIntire, Iowa, March 22, 1898. He married Esther Klotz August 19, 1918. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World Lodge No. 31.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mary Jane Betts; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Buttolph, and Mrs. Effie Jager; two brothers, Roy Betts and Charlie Betts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Leona; and six sisters and brothers.
