AGE: 80 • Voorhees(nee Chew)
On August 19, 2015 of Voorhees, NJ, formerly of Somerdale. Age 80 years. Passed away peacefully at the Voorhees Care and Rehabilitation after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
She was the daughter of the late Carlton E. & Gladys Chew (VanDexter), born September 5, 1934 in Cross Keys, NJ.
Preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Wendell, siblings Carlton N. Chew, Clifford R. Chew, and Helen S. Johnson. She is survived by son Paul Rhoads, loving daughter Kathleen Pantano (Joseph) and grandson Joshua. Also surviving are siblings Shirley VanEasteren of Whiting, NJ, Oscar Chew (Sally) of Haddonfield, NJ, Jane Madden of Pitman, NJ, and William Chew of Portland, OR. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Eleanor worked at Pennsylvania Railroad with Wendell then left to raise her 2 children. She later worked at Echelon Bagel and Chick-fil-a in the Echelon Mall. She loved Elvis, baking with her daughter, gardening and the time she spent with her grandson Joshua. She had a friendly smile for everyone she met.
We would like to express our appreciation to the workers of the Voorhees Care and Rehabilitation and Acacia Hospice who cared for her in these last months.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Sunday evening 6:00-8:00PM and Monday Morning 9:00-10:00AM at the COSTANTINO FUNERAL HOME 231 W. WHITE HORSE PIKE BERLIN, NJ 08009. Funeral service 10:00AM Monday morning. Internment at Chews Methodist Cemetery, Glendora, NJ where she will rest alongside her parents.
