Born on February 7, 1956 in Rockford, Illinois where he was also raised.
Brown went to college in Montana and later became a police officer. He was on forces in Billings, Montgomery and Seattle before joining the Inglewood Police Department in California, where he served fourteen years until retiring in 1988. All three police departments were represented at Brown's funeral.
Brown's police credentials led him to security work and that led him to acting. He was doing security for Pearl Bailey's husband when someone recommended him for a screen role.
From 1985 to 2002, he appeared in at least 69 television shows and movies, usually playing a security guard or burly man. His favorite role was playing himself in a Fox TV series, "413 Hope Street," which starred Richard Roundtree. The series earned critical acclaim but lasted only the 1997-1998 season.
Other films he loved having parts in were "Barb Wire" in 1996 and "Throw Mama From the Train" in 1987. Brown's filmography can be seen on imdb.com/name/nm0113012/.
The joking and the rubbing elbows with stars didn't take away from Brown's passion for football, or for kids. He coached youth teams and changed lives, his family said.
He died of a short illness on July 18, 2006 at age 50.
