Rev. Groves Officiates at Ceremony in Dayton --


The wedding of Miss Lucy Schild and Charles B. McKinney was solemnized Thanksgiving afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Schild. The Rev. W. H. Graves, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church, officiated.


The ceremony was said before an improvised alter of potted plants and chrysanthemums. There were no attendants. The bride wore an ensemble of trico cloth with harmonizing accessories.


Miss Schild is the daughter of Morgan Schild and the late Mrs. Tennie Morgan Schild. She is the granddaughter of William Morgan and Mike Schild, pioneers of Rhea County. Mrs. Russell Stansbury, whose marriage was an event on Wednesday, is an aunt. Mr. McKinney is a young business man of Winchester. Following the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. McKinney went to Winchester, where they will reside.

Charles Bell McKinney, age 83, a resident of Winchester and a member of the Marble Plains Masonic Lodge, died Saturday, May 1, at Methodist Hospital of Middle Tennessee. He was a native of Franklin County and a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mr. McKinney was preceded in death by wife, Lucy McKinney. He is survived by two daughters, Irene McKinney Bass of Sanford, North Carolina, and Frances McKinney Tucker of Lexington, North Carolina; one sister, Bernice Cunningham of Winchester; one son, Charles Alfred (Sonny) McKinney of Shelbyville; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held today at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Watson-Gamble Funeral Home with the Rev. Eugene Barrett officiating. Interment was in Franklin Memorial Gardens.
