***Tamey A. Takanen, 53, of Aurora died Monday, Aug. 17, 2015. She lost her battle with breast cancer surrounded by family at her cabin in rural Eveleth.

Tamey was born Aug. 5, 1962, in Two Harbors, Minn., to Terrance and Carol (Frye) Huttunen. Tamey was a 1981 graduate of Gilbert High School and attended Eveleth Vo-Tech in Graphic Arts. She graduated from the University of North Dakota in dietary management.

On Sept. 17, 1994, she married Shawn Takanen at Embarrass Lake. Tamey worked as a dietary manager at St. Michael's Health and Rehab in Virginia for 24 years. She was also an ambassador for the Virginia Chamber of Commerce.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Shawn; a nephew who was like a son to her, Austin Briesemeister; mother, Carol Kobe of Midway (Virginia); stepfather, Geron Krize of California; a niece who was like a daughter, Skylar Wells; sister, Gina (Dave) Wells of Chisholm; brother, Craig Krize of Texas; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Sharon Takanen; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Terrance.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, from 2-4 p.m. at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. A private inurnment will take place in the Northland Cemetery in Canyon. In lieu of flowers per Tamey's request, donations are to be made to: St. Michael's Foundation Garden Fund, 1201 8th Street, Virginia, Minn., 55792. The family would also like to extend an invitation to join them Friday evening at Fig Lake.
